THE PET RECYCLING PROCESS

MacDermid Chemicals are a vital component in the recycling PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) process. Being an inert, lightweight material, plastic is used in countless applications to enhance our life daily. It can be used to contain most of the substances we use during the day such as water, soft drinks, household or industrial cleaners and medication. It allows to extend the shelf life of food. It is largely used for healthcare and hospital equipment and can even be found in various fashion items.

What many don’t know, PET, if properly sorted, is fully and endlessly recyclable.

And it’s exactly in the recycling process that MacDermid Enthone contributes to this circular green economy by providing the best processes for the washing stages of recycling lines.

After collection, used containers are washed to remove contaminates and residues, ground into flakes and sorted (by floating/sinking) to separate light weight polymers such as PP, PE and HDPE from high weight materials such as PET.
