Shock Absorbers
ANKOR Hard Chrome Processes are OEM approved and meet the specification of the major Shock Absorber OEMs and Tier 1s, in this safety relevant application. The piston or hollow rod of automotive shock absorbers is plated with an average of 15 µm to 30µm micro – cracked Hard chrome for wear- and corrosion protection in combination with their low friction requirements.
ANKOR chemical solutions meet the present and future demand of the industry for high yields, lowest cost per part, long term planning security and ELV compliance.
ANKOR technology for shock absorbers can be installed in Zero discharge plating equipment.
Product Offering for Shock Absorbers:
ANKOR 1127 |
---|
ANKOR 1127 PLUS special etch-free catalyst system provides predictable adhesion on basically all substrates, even Stainless Steel, Nickel-Alloys and Chrome. The productivity is increased versus competitor processes by minimum 5% due to the improved thickness distribution. The etch-free activation enables nodule-free and pore-free plating of high micro-cracked chrome deposits, which enhance NSS performance. Ankor 1127 PLUS is mainly used in Automotive, Job Shops, Oil and Gas and General Engineering applications. |
ANKOR 1127 Plus – Predictable Adhesion, Best Thickness Distribution, Highest Brightness |

ANKOR 1128 – reliable process for Hard chrome plating in encapsulated hoist lines for conforming platinum titanium anodes. |
---|
ANKOR 1128 was designed for Shock Absorber Hard Chrome plating in Encapsulated Hoist Line with conforming platinized titanium anodes with current densities up to 250A/dm².
The Hard Chromium coatings are micro-cracked bright and provide high NSS performance of up to 240h, meeting OEM specifications for OE parts.
The product is delivered as a ready to use single component replenishment product, including chrome, organic catalyst and mist suppressant, simplifying handling of chemicals and avoiding the risk of dosing failures. |
ANKOR 1160 – High speed plating on shock absorbers in zero discharge reactor cell |
---|
ANKOR 1160 was designed to plate micro-cracked Hard Chromium coatings in closed, zero-discharge, high-speed plating equipment with current densities between 200A/dm² up to 1500A/dm².
The coatings are micro-cracked bright, provide high hardness of more than 900 HV0.1 and are low in friction, mainly needed in Hard Chromium Plating on in Automotive Shock Absorber Piston Rods, Engine Valves and Fuel Injector components. ANKOR 1160 is approved and used by several automotive Tier 1s. |

Zero Discharge Hard Chromium Plating
The industry is moving away from conventional “Open Tank Plating Systems” due to the increased emission regulation and higher workplace safety.
ANKOR GAMMAT is a zero discharge plating plant, designed to meet present and future regulations on Cr(VI). The chemistry remains in a closed system and plated pistons are cleaned properly from Cr(VI) residues. ANKOR GAMMAT is one of the safest plating plants in the world. The system can be integrated in any industrial environment and makes plant approval much more simple.
ANKOR Hard chrome process additives are designed for single component replenishment and therefore increase processes capability and yields.
